I am proud to claim this good looking fellow as a relative of mine!
I have been out of the house a bit lately taking some senior photos. These were taken in West Olive, MI. Brian did great, and just love how this picture turned out! I was also blessed to meet Miss Amanda, a wonderful young lady who was very fun and photogenic as well!
Oh how I miss the carefree days of school and highschool friends!
Here's Miss Amanda...

My Two Babes

What's in a name?
I have had many questions asked on where I came up with the name of my company. If you do not know already, I am a mother of beautiful twin girls. They will be two in January, and I have no idea where the time has gone! I guess I was under the impression that they would be my babies forever! Is this not the case?
When the girls were born, they stayed at the hospital for about 10 days. At this time there was a very special nurse that each time I came in to visit (all day, every day!) would tell me how my two babes had done for the night, and where they were at with their feedings. It was like having a grandma there to care for them in the night. She always called them "The Babes."
I would not have been able to start my business without their birth, and the time I am able to spend here at home watching them grow is precious. I am inspired by their sweet smiles, and by the wonder in their eyes to look at everything around me with renewed vision.
These are my two babes... my LOVES!

For Today . . .
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. It is 61 degrees and slightly chilly, though not real cold. Yesterday was gorgeous, and 78 degrees! Gotta love warm weather in October!
Outside my Window . . .
The leaves are now more yellow than red, and really starting to fall... the air has a sweet crisp Autumn smell.
I am thinking . . .
How great my friends are, and how much fun we have on girls night out - I wish it could be every weekend - Jen, wanna come to Michigan?
From the learning rooms . . .
I have been teaching some online friends how to set-up their blogs... I will post links once there are more up and running!
I am thankful for . . .
The blessing of having a wonderful DH to share my evenings and nights with. Only your hubby can understand the love of a parent for all the little quirky and silly things you children do throughout the day!
From the kitchen . . .
My applesauce turned out great! I also made some peach babyfood on Friday night when I was watching Jayden & Miya... Jayde ate about two cups of it... and Grandma said she didn't like fruit! It was all over her face and just adorable!
I am reading . . .
I think I am going to delete this topic... I really don't read... ever!
I am hoping . . .
The photos from the senior pic sessions from last night turn out good, the colors were excellent, but the sun goes down so fast!
I am creating . . .
The logo for a new company called Michigan Mamas, connecting moms across the state. It is based in Livonia, and the site isn't up yet, but I promise to paste a link to that as well, as soon as it is running. It is being created by Jill King, of www.littleonesbabygifts.com.
I am hearing . . .
My girls 'singing' as they relax at the beginning of their naps. Hopefully they fall asleep soon?
Around the house . . .
I am looking at the mounds of storage items stacked here in my office... Mark is finishing the back room, to be a bedroom for the girls, so for now there are stacks to the ceiling, and boxes everywhere! The door doesn't even open all the way!
One of my favorite things . . .
I love my new office chair - soft pebble leather, in a nice muted tan. So comfy!
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you . . .
This is a shot of a dark fuchia peony taken at my parents house a couple years back... the color is so intense, it really draws you in! I could stare at it all day!

Women's Daybook - Article1
I am going to try to post every Monday an article on how the week is going and a few thoughts to begin the week on the right foot. Here is the first installment, with many more to come! (DV)
For Today . . .
Monday, October 6, 2008. It is 58 degrees and slightly chilly, though not real cold.
Outside my Window . . .
The trees are starting to change color, a bright yellow and red. Their leaves are rustling gently as the branches sway.
I am thinking . . .
About the lists of things I should get done, and the few that I actually will get done...
From the learning rooms . . .
I will be designing new items to put in my shop for the Christmas Season, and am looking forward to stirring the creative juices!
I am thankful for . . .
My little girls, and loving their innocence and sweet morning kisses! Brookey begins each morning with a soft little song, "Maaaa-ma, Maaaa-ma... Maaaa-ma..." Britney is usually still sleeping away, but as soon as I wake her, it's "MA,MA! MA,MA!" with an excited smile. It is as if she is thinking, "where have you been all night?!" Oh, how I LOVE having toddlers!
From the kitchen . . .
A half-ful brown bag of apples from Minnesota. They are waiting to be pealed & cored for a few batches of homemade cinnamon applesauce. Mmmmm!
I am reading . . .
The newspaper, clipping the ads for this week... this is about as much reading as I do! Thank goodness for internet news, and blogs!
I am hoping . . .
That the week goes smoothly. It is already getting booked up with work, meetings, and family functions. I love Fall and the gathering of family and friends!
I am creating . . .
A blog for a friend, a website for a client, and many business cards for a local company. I plan to introduce the new Christmas designs to my Etsy shop this week, hopefully my Etsy sales pick-up, I wonder if the economy scare is the reason my sales were down last week?
I am hearing . . .
The click of the keys on my keyboard, and nothing else. I love a sleeping house! I like to think it means they are all safe, sound, and happy.
Around the house . . .
My girls are taking their nap for the day, hopefully it lasts the three hours it should. I am finally starting to get used to having them awake most of the time. It's tiring for a momma to have to keep them busy all day!
One of my favorite things . . .
My wonderful second cup of coffee... bring on the caffeine!
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you . . .
Myself and all my sister-in-laws on Mark's side. We all get along wonderfully, and it was great to get together for Mom's birthday when she was here! Love you all!

A busy Thursday...
It's 4:47pm here on Thursday afternoon, and I am just thinking what a busy day it has been!
Last night Mark called and said he would be out of town overnight. Well, you know what that means! I get to do 'girly stuff' all night! Sewing, Sewing, Sewing!
I decided it was finally time to use the material I bought for carseat covers for my girls. You know, I would love to have bought matching toddler carseats, but since discovering the price of that option, I decided to make covers for them myself! Of course I couldn't find one that I really liked, or that looked simple enough for a 'newbie' - so I made myself a pattern and went to sewing! I don't think they turned out too bad, but I am a little bias! :) The second one only took about 2 hours, and was WAY easier than the first!
This morning I had to go to MAI for a while to pick up some work, and after that went to Rivertown Mall for some happy shopping! Those who know me best know I am always looking for a great deal... I had one store in mind... GYMBOREE! I had one Gymbuck rewarded from a previous purchase of items for church, so I knew I had to take advantage of this! I was happily surprized to find that there was an additional sale on top of all the clearance items, so it was a day of great savings for me! I spent $27.00 dollars (actually $25.09 before tax, since I had to spend $25.00 to use the Gymbuck!) and in return, took home $122.00 worth of merchandise! That is a total of 10 items at about $2.70 each! This included the following shirt, which I LOVE, and is perfect for the coming Christmas parties!
